These are the Fry 100-300 lists organized by vowel sound and placed in the order of the RS Streamlined Pathway. The lists utilize the “heart word strategy,” and indicate unexpected sounds for reading and spelling. During instruction, I have my students write the correct sound in the heart with any associated diacritical mark. We will also mark up our words in other ways as I get inspired, like adding “zzz” above the schwa vowels that are “lazy.” They are color coded to match the vowel color patterns that are used in the 95% Group materials, which we previously used. I didn’t remove the colors. They can be a handy tool, at times, to have students color code certain patterns for easy recognition, like digraphs. Plus, a lot of work went into making them and I wasn’t undoing it! 🙂 My students really enjoy marking up these words, and instructing them in this more organized and coherent method in conjunction with the Streamlined Pathways has made a huge difference for them.
