After a discussion on FB regarding segmenting words into their individual phonemes, I’m posting the sheets I made a year or so ago to use with my tutoring kids. Get child to TAP out the sounds they hear in the word. Next “Map it” by writing each individual phoneme in a separate square. The “zap it” back together again by writing the whole word in the last box. Get child to SAY the sounds as they write them, to increase the the ‘sound/symbol/ relationship.
This sheet is for shorter words with less than 5 phonemes. See the alternative sheet for words with up to 7 phonemes. To save paper there are 2 charts per page.
